Valley Fellowship Christian Academy
2007 Guatemala Mission Trip

The vision of VFCA is to raise up Godly students to take their place of leadership in the Body of Christ and in the world. We desire that our students reach out with God?s love and hope to our world in practical ways.

In March of 2007, Valley Fellowship Christian Academy led a missions trip to Casa Angelina Orphanage in Teluche, Guatemala. As the vision of Casa Angelina grows, it will provide a home, medical clinic and Christian school for 500 children. Although these precious children have endured great hardships, abuses, malnutrition, disease and abandonment, each of the children are now being raised in a family environment with Christian parents, brothers and sisters. Our team recognized the presence of the Lord working through the incredible staff to the 32 children already on site. We witnessed God?s healing power in these orphans who are now receiving a hope and a future.

The VFCA team had a total of 55 members made up of 21 students, along with 34 parents, teachers and church members. Our main goal is to complete the construction on the school building. The projected cost to build the school is approximately $100,000. Last year, $22,000 was raised and this year an additional $45,000 was raised for the school building. We also took over 1,800 pounds of medical supplies, gifts, clothing and tools. Each day the work was hard, but the faces of the children of Casa Angelina brought the needed focus and motivation to get the work done. The finished school will be named after our own Christian school, Valley Fellowship Christian Academy. We plan to return next year during Spring Break 2008, hoping to put the finishing touches on the school.

The Lord also provided many opportunities for ministry to the surrounding village of Teluche. Our students shared about Jesus in the local public school and provided an outreach to approximately 500 villagers. Several people received Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. Others received Bible instruction, prayer for healing and participated in an evangelistic soccer clinic. The team handed out over 400 gift sacks, 330 soccer balls and provided a meal for 77 street orphans from Guatemala City. We are deeply grateful for the success that God gave to our efforts.

We want to express our genuine appreciation for each and every person who planted seeds of prayer, gifts and money. You have refreshed the poor and have ministered to people that God says are precious to Him. ?Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world? James 1:27 (NIV).

Blessings in Christ,

Patti Simon, Administrator The VFCA 2007 Guatemala Mission Team
